Bad Friends

Looking back, every stage of life

came with a few “bad friends.”

Spending time with them can

make life feel a lot diverse.

Different “bad friends” contribute

in different ways,

so in my mind there’s even

a “best bad friend” vote.

But as time goes on,

I found my personality traits and life views

did not really match with 

those“bad friends”.

But the truth is, these so-called “bad friends” may

simply be people whose values,

lives and day-to-day routines

moved in directions that diverted from mine.

And yet, if I forced myself to keep

treating them as close friends,

it would become really tiring and painful.

If being around them caused

negative changes to my life,

then I could only, reluctantly,

create distance from them.

However, there should be some other people

who could share these ”bad friends” ’s 

ways of thinking 

would consider them as 

real “good friends”.

回想過去，每個人生階段都有些損友。

與損友交往能令生活的內容豐富了不少。

損友的貢獻不同，

所以心目中有最佳損友的選舉。

但時間一長，

損友與自己不契合的性格及人生觀漸漸顯現。

但所謂損友，

可能祇是大家道不同，

與他的人生及生活相左，

但焗住做好朋友就會好辛苦。

與損友交往若會對自己人生有負改變,

只能無何奈何與他疏遠。

其實損友對與他道相同的人往往是真正益友。

Professionalism in the Age of AI (Professionals 3）

With the advent of AI,

everyone is expected to be

professionally competent

in every aspect of their work.

The reason is that AI has raised the standards

and expectations for professional conduct 

from professionals, and also non-professionals.

Therefore, when people communicate 

with one another in the same field, 

they can speak using the same—

or very closely aligned—

standards and terminology, or jargons,

with content that is often very similar,

and sometimes even identical.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Every Mother’s Day,

everyone cheers—either 

for themselves or for others—

“Happy Mother’s Day!”

This is a kind of wish or hope,

not necessarily a statement of fact.

Mother’s Day—

can it truly be happy?

It depends on 

what kind of person the mother is;

and it also depends on 

what kind of person her child is.

Do the mother and her child fit well together 

in some aspects of life?

每逢母親節，

大家都對自己或别人，

說句「母親節快樂」，

這是一句祝福或期許的說話。

未必是事實的陳述。

母親節一定可以快樂嗎？

要看母親是怎樣的人；

也要看其子女是怎樣的人。

母親和孩子在生活上，

有些方面有好好的契合嗎？

No “Dream Lover” in My Dream

When I was a teenage, 

I have feelings for several singers 

in different time periods—

all of them were in my “dream lover” category.

However, these “dream lovers” can’t become 

real-life lovers of mine, 

because if their images were truly real, 

their personalities, life experiences, 

and their life styles 

wouldn’t suit them to be my partner.

Now I seldom have feelings for 

 a new-generation singer on the premise of 

being a “dream lover” ,

because our age gap is too big, 

and their carefully crafted “persona images” 

often don’t match my character.

But that doesn’t mean I never have 

a good impression of anyone. 

Sometimes I end up being 

attracted to a new singer 

because of their talents for composing, 

the content of their lyrics, or 

their attitude toward creating music.

Without having any "dream lover" 

appearing in my dream, 

it’s hard not to feel a little lonely.

讀書時，在不同時段，

喜歡過幾位歌星，

都是「夢中情人」級數的。

其實這些「夢中情人」，

不可能成為現實中的情人，

因為她們的形象若是真實，

她們的性格、經歷及生活風格等

都不適合作為我的情人的。

現在很少以「夢中情人」的前提

去喜歡新一代的歌星了，

因為年齡差距太大，

而且他們太刻意的「人設形象」

往往不合我的性格。

但可也不是完全沒有喜歡的。

有時會因為作曲的天份、歌詞的內容，

或創作的態度，

去喜歡一個新歌星的。

夢中少了情人出現，

難免有點寂寞。

Learning From Mistakes

Sometimes, I learn something 

from my own mistakes.

But I always remind myself,

I can’t only learn something 

from my own mistakes.

I should learn something 

from others’ mistakes 

to enable me to make less mistakes.
