An Astronaut Far From the Earth

Becoming an astronaut is so awesome。
I admire them for having
the intelligence, knowledge,
and physical strength required
to become an astronaut.
What I admire even more is that
they don’t have the claustrophobia

Earth is so near, yet still so far.

Barclay James Harvest - Negative Earth

For fifty-five days
I've been flying around the world

Didn't anybody know,
didn't anyone suppose
That my life up here was
slowly drifting by
And all I've got to do is
sit and cry

The Earth is so clear and
it's simply a reach away
I just had to laugh today but
the news it seemed to say
That my life once full was
surely running dry
I prayed a while but then
I had to cry
Look in my eyes - I know
That man is surely just a man
It's no surprise - I know
The road is far too long
And life too short to carry on

For fifty-five days
I've been flying around the world
Here in syncopated time,
while my tangled web of rhyme
Dangles aimlessly, time drips slowly by
And all I've got to do is
sit and cry
Look in my eyes - I know
That man is surely just a man
It's no surprise - I know
The road is far too long
And life too short to carry on

The Poet and His Favourite Poems

He recently wrote ten poems all at once.
He asked me, 'Which one do you like?'
I like his third poem.
He asked her, 'Which one do you like?'
She likes his eighth poem.
He said his own favorite is the sixth one.

Barclay James Harvest:- The Poet

Here I sit watching the day out
No one beside me who may doubt
All of the words that I could chose to say
So listen, believe, or be gone from this day

I need a friend to walk with me
And sit in the shade of an old tree
To think nothing much,
just agree with my thoughts
To say nothing much,
never tell what I ought

Watching the people pass by now
They just don't know why
or know how
They don't seem to care about all
that I've seen
They just walk on by never
knowing I've been
Sitting up here where
I'm wind blown
Only to ask and to be shown
Things that would make you believe
what I say
I'll tell you myself and
I'll show you some day

After the day at the sunset of life

As now I have reached my old age,
I know that not much big deal
can be done anymore.
I also learn that not many people will
care or pay attention to what deal I do, if any.

However, I still have the passion,
I am always an enthusiastic onlooker to watch
what others are doing.
If anyone would so choose to chat with me,
I am definitely willing to tell him about
my insights towards life.

When I was young
listening to some songs about the elderly
written by some young artists,
I was not much impressed.

When I am now old
listening to these same songs,
I surprisingly find that
those some young artist had written
very good songs on the elderly
which I shared much:

年青時聽年青人創作有關老人的歌曲歌詞,
沒什麼感覺。到老時再聽那些歌,
覺得他們寫有關老人的歌曲歌詞,寫得很好呢:

Barclay James Harvest

THE POET
Here I sit watching the day out
No-one beside me who may doubt
All of the words that I could chose to say
So listen, believe, or be gone from this day

I need a friend to walk with me
And sit in the shade of an old tree
To think nothing much, just agree with my thoughts
To say nothing much, never tell what I ought

Watching the people pass by now
They just don't know why or know how
They don't seem to care about all that I've seen
They just walk on by never knowing I've been

Sitting up here where I'm wind blown
Only to ask and to be shown
Things that would make you believe what I say
I'll tell you myself and I'll show you some day

AFTER THE DAY
The eyes of night march slowly by
The last grain falls
The kneeling man just sighs
Protected by the one great wall
Of coloured parts
He probes his clouded mind

If he takes a look around him
Is there nothing left to see
Is there nothing left at all
After the day

With trembling hands he wipes his eyes
He tries to stand
But does not feel the need
The morning sun shines on
The multicoloured cross
Left standing through it all

If he takes a look around him
Is there nothing left to see
Is there nothing left at all
After the day

If he takes a look around him
Is there nothing left to see
Is there nothing left at all
After the day
