Eason CHAN - Let Me Go
Innocent as you are,
Who can blame the celestial fish for
returning to the sky?
Thinking staying in place isn’t enough to roam,
Let it play in the water on the beach.
That time you adventured up
the mountain at midnight,
Arguing with teammates who
didn’t want to carry on,
At that moment,
I actually tasted true freedom,
But felt it was dull.
It’s okay;
the mountains and fields have their fog lights.
The mischievous child learns to be
cautious, not too brave.
How many colourful playgrounds are
there in the world for you to explore?
Since when did you learn not to
stray from the group?
Since when did you realize
you can't do without companions?
Since when did you lament
the butterfly trapped in that paradise?
No matter how far it flies,
who will care for it?
Once lost, you fear you can’t catch up with
the busy crowd.
How to survive when
no one pays attention?
The mischievous child has grown up,
not so foolish anymore,
Able to settle on the broad journey and then
bathe in hot springs.
Why walk alone outside the umbrella?
So many wonderful places,
Wandering to the exclusive village to see who?
Since you’ve set off on the journey
to chase your dreams,
Stand out a bit and attract praise.
After visiting a few bedrooms,
you reach the church,
As if running towards
seventy or eighty years old.
Since you’ve walked this way of love to here,
Try not to retreat.
Dear, explore all the streetlights,
It’s important to make everyone happy.
Embrace the sky and the vast sea;
let yourself go.
Since when did you learn not to
stray from the group?
Since when did you realize
you can't do without companions?
Since when did you lament the butterfly
trapped in that paradise?
No matter how far it flies,
who will care for it?
Once lost, you fear you can’t catch up
with the busy crowd.
How to survive when
no one pays attention?
The mischievous child has grown up,
not so foolish anymore,
Able to settle on the broad journey and
then bathe in hot springs.
Why walk alone on barren land?
Dear, wait for all the green lights,
It’s still important to let yourself
go a little crazy.
The streets, theatres, shops,
and the vast sky;
let yourself go.
Since when did you start to dread
the empty mountains?
Since when did you fear to
gaze at the stardust?
It turns out the celestial fish
crossing the ocean
would lose its soul,
Unable to hear the gospel that
people love to listen to.
Once lost, you fear you can’t catch up
with the busy crowd.
How to survive when no one pays attention?
The mischievous child has grown up,
not so foolish anymore,
Able to settle on the broad journey and then
bathe in hot springs.
Why walk alone on the barren ground?
The mischievous child has grown up;
no more questions asked,
Able to let me walk, yet in the end,
follow the crowd.
The crowd looks so much like a flock of sheep.
