Some people are very defensive because
they want to protect themselves from
being harmed or hurt by others who
might blame them when something goes wrong.
Usually, defensive people have difficulty in
making good friends because
they are usually very
reserved and detached
when interacting with less defensive people,
who expect more openness from their friends.
However, defensive people can still
form good friendships with others
who are similarly defensive.
This is because both sides maintain
a safe interaction distance;
neither will harm or hurt the other,
and a good relationship can
thus be maintained.
